The groundwater in the Skåne Region in Sweden is negatively affected by climate change and overexploitation, threatening the ecology and affecting local contexts and communities in Skåne. This design project explored the impact of groundwater changes in local contexts and communities, aiming to identify stakeholder desires for translation into design opportunities. Through stakeholder mapping, semi-structured interviews, and prototype testing, the design proposal is a physical toolbox for contextual dialogue and collaborative adaptation, combined with a digital forum to extend the physical dialogue to an interdisciplinary discussion between the contexts of Skåne. The design proposal has an imbalance between research and design due to the need to comprehend context-specific understandings of groundwater to facilitate a public discussion. The outcome is uncertain due to limited testing and implementation. The design proposal is a starting point for emphasizing collaborative action, amplifying voices from diverse contexts, public discussion, and changing culture regarding groundwater and climate change. The main learnings from the project are involving local stakeholders throughout the design process. This process taught me more about designing with a group, not for a group. Subsequently, creating physical and digital prototypes using wireframes, physical materials such as wood and paper. Below are images of the finished design exploration and the first prototype that was tested.
